Maybe the nicest feature of Whip-Poor-Will Lodge is its porch, which wraps around the first floor and is underneath some of the bedrooms. It has sturdy birch railings and spindles; Adirondak rocking chairs, chaise lounges and set chairs; side tables; a picnic table; a wire spool table; and a charcoal BBQ.
No matter the weather its a great place to sit and rest, have a drink, take in the sights, or watch the kids swim. When it's sunny, like in this picture, it's a relaxing and wonderful view. At night you can see stars most eastern-seaboard folks outside of NH never get to see.
And in rain storms -- yeah, we have them -- you are completely protected as you watch Mother Nature pound the lake. It's really an amazing sight!
The porch can seat as many as 15 people, and many more standing. It's a great place for a cocktail party or informal barbecue. |
