I took this right off the front porch on an almost perfect southern angle. Over to the left you can see Grant Island (back in the day we used to own that, but it's gone on to greater glory!) which is about an eigth of a mile from the camp and guards the mouth to the bay.
Out in the distance you can see Sewell's Point (I think), and the mountains in the far distance. These mountains are amazing and look different on a daily basis. Some days you can't see them at all for the haze, others you see clouds of steam rising up as the morning dew evaporates. They change color over the year from a bright green in the spring to a fadsed blue in the summer to a fiery blaze during leaf peeping season.
We are willing to rent during leaf peeping, by the way, but you have to be really hardy. There's no insulation in the camp, so October can be pretty rough -- and spectacular. Before we had our daughter I prefered to come up in the first couple weeks of October to take in the foliage; some years we were comfy and some years we spent the whole time under three blankets.
However, the view is spectacular all year 'round. We're working on putting up a YouTube video of the entire bay, and hope to have that ready real soon. |
